 Introduction

Hi, Gabriel Pradīpaka again. Originally, this scripture was composed by Ādiśeṣa, but the greatest Trika Master, Abhinavagupta, refashioned it in order to transform it into a Trika scripture... and he succeeded! That is why I wrote the title as "Abhinavagupta's Paramārthasāra", to indicate that it is not the one of Ādiśeṣa as originally formulated. It consists of 105 stanzas dealing with Trika philosophy in general. In this sense, it is like a practical handbook for spiritual aspirants desirous to attain Final Liberation, much like a kind of Pratyabhijñāhṛdayam, but more extensive and complete. The work would not be complete without including the commentary of Yogarāja. Who is Yogarāja? He is the main disciple of Kṣemarāja, and Kṣemarāja is the main disciple of Abhinavagupta. In fact, Yogarāja also studied under the guidance of Abhinavagupta. The inclusion of his commentary will transform the Abhinavagupta's work into an extremely complete scripture teaching the main Trika's tenets.

Yes, I will add a lot of notes of explanation with more information for you to understand all of the topics so easily as possible. Aspirants who are beginners in reading Abhinavagupta's studies should start with his Paramārthasāra. In this scripture, the great Master goes right to the point without beating about the bush. And along with the commentary by Yogarāja, the scripture becomes a little gem summarizing Trika knowledge brilliantly.

This is a "IAST only" version, i.e. the entire text appears transliterated in IAST scheme. There is neither translation nor signs (Devanāgarī).

Yo'yaṁ vyadhāyi guruṇā yuktyā paramārthasārasaṅkṣepaḥ|
Vivṛtiṁ karomi laghvīmasmin vidvajjanārthito yogaḥ||2||

Evamapyekaścitsvabhāvaḥ pramātā sa yadi māyādipramātṛprameyavaicitryeṇa nānātvādanekaḥ — Iti kathaṁ viruddhayaikatayā vyavahriyata ekaścetkimiti nānārūpaḥ — Iti chāyātapavadvirodhādviruddhadharmādhyāsaḥ samāpatati na punaranekarūpa ekaśca padārthaḥ syāt| Yaduktam

Ayameva bhedo bhedaheturbhāvānāṁ yadviruddhadharmādhyāsaḥ kāraṇabhedo vā|

Yathā jalapravāhe yāti sati himakarabimbaṁ candravapurvastuvṛttenākāśasthaṁ svayamacalattātmakaṁ jalapravāhāntaḥpatitamapi tadgacchati prayāti iva tathā tasminneva kṣaṇe'nyatra jalāśaye niḥstimite sati tadeva himakarabimbaṁ sthitiṁ gacchatīva — Ityubhayathā sarvapramātṛbhiretatsambhāvyate na punaḥ paramārthena tattathaiva syāt| Nāpi jalagatau deśakālau bhedakatayā candramasaḥ svarūpaṁ gaganasthaṁ parāmṛśataḥ kevalaṁ jalameva tādṛśamatha ca tatpratibimbitasya candrabimbasya jalagatacalattācalattādiko bhedo vyavahriyate — Ityetāvatā gaṅgājalagatasya kardamapatitasya vā śaśinaḥ svasvarūpatāyāṁ na kācitkṣatiḥ| Tathaivāyamātmā caitanyasvabhāvaḥ svayaṁ nirmite tanukaraṇabhuvanasamūhe parikṣīṇe sati samutpanne vā prakṣīṇaḥ samutpannaśca — Iti māyāvyāmohitānāṁ vyavahāramātrametajjalagatacandravanna punaḥ svātmā jāyate mriyate vā — Iti| Gītāsu evamevoktam

Na jāyate mriyate vā kadācit nāyaṁ bhūtvā bhavitā vā na bhūyaḥ|
Ajo nityaḥ śāśvato'yaṁ purāṇo na hanyate hanyamāne śarīre||

iti| Tasmādanyamātmā maheśānaḥ svatantraḥ sarvasvātmapratyavamarśasvabhāvaḥ sarvapramātṝṇāmanubhavitṛtayā prathamānastatastattadavasthāvipralope samutpattau vā svasvarūpa eva| Etadeva ca durghaṭakāri maheśānatvaṁ saṁvittattvasya yattathā tathā paśupramātṛtayā svarganarakādibhogabhoktā'pi sarvānubhavitṛtayā saṁvitsvarūpa eva| Pratyuta puṇyapāpasvarganarakakṣutpipāsādiko yo'yaṁ paśubhāvo bandhakatayā niyataḥ sa yadi bhagavatā svātmaprakāśena prakāśitaḥ parāmṛṣṭaśca syāttadā yathoktāṁ svātmani sattāṁ labhate'nyathā niḥsvabhāva evaiṣaḥ — Iti kathaṁ svātmanastasyaiva maheśasya svarūpavipralopāyocyate| Sarvathā nirmitameva vastu saṁhāryaṁ samutpādyaṁ vā dehādirūpaṁ syānna punarnitye bhagavati caitanye samutpattivināśau kadācidbhavetām| Tasmādeka evātmā grāhyagrāhakatayā nānārūpasvabhāvaḥ san punarapi sarvānubhavitṛtayā sarvasyaikatayā prathate — Iti na kācidadvayavādakṣatiḥ||7||

 Itthamapi sarveṣāmayamātmā viśvaprapañcasvabhāva eva saṁvinmātraparamārthaḥ sarvāvabhāsaḥ sarvatra saṁvidanugamāt — Iti yuktyāgamābhyāṁ pratipāditaścetkimiti loṣṭādāvapyaviśeṣātsvātmatayā sa na pratīyate'bhyupagame vā jaḍājaḍavyavastheyaṁ bhāsamānā na saṅgacchate lokavyavahāraśca jaḍājaḍarūpaḥ — Iti kathametatsyāt — Ityāha

Rāhuradṛśyo'pi yathā śaśibimbasthaḥ prakāśate tadvat|
Sarvagato'pyayamātmā viṣayāśrayaṇena dhīmukure||8||

Ākāśadeśo rāhuḥ sarvatra paribhramannapi nopalabhyate sa eva punargrahoparāgakāle candramūrtisthaḥ prathamāno'yaṁ rāhuḥ — Iti parīkṣyate'nyathā sthito'pi bhacakre'sthita iva| Tathaivehāpi sarvāntaratamatvena sthito'pyayamātmā svānubhavaikasvarūpatayā pratyakṣaparidṛśyamānaḥ sarvasya tathā nopalakṣyate| Yadā punaḥ puryaṣṭakapramātṝṇāṁ buddhidarpaṇe pratibhāmukure grāhyavyavasthākāle śabdādiviṣayasvīkāreṇa śṛṇomītyevamahampratītiviṣayo bhavati tadā grāhakasvabhāvatayā loṣṭādāvapi sthitaḥ san sphuṭarūpastatraiva svātmā prakāśate sarvaiśca svānubhavaikarūpaḥ pratīyate loṣṭādāvatyantatamomayatvātsthito'pyasthitakalpo'sau prathate rāhurākāśe yathā| Evamayaṁ bhagavān māyāśaktyā svātmakalpe'pi bhāvavarge kāṁścitpuryaṣṭakasvarūpān vedyakhaṇḍānapyahantāvyavasthārasābhiṣiktān vedakīkaroti kāṁścidvedyīkaroti yadapekṣayāyaṁ jaḍājaḍavyavasthāsvarūpo bhedavyavahāraḥ susthita evopapadyate| Tena loṣṭādirvedyatvājjaḍo vedakatvātpuryaṣṭakapramātāpyajaḍaḥ| Na punaḥ paramārthena parameśvarāpekṣayā jaḍājaḍavyavahāraḥ — Iti||8||

Nanu sarvapramātṝṇāṁ buddhau cetsvātmano'pyaviśeṣeṇa prasphuraṇaṁ tarhi te sarve kimiti svātmavido na syustajjñānavanto mā vā bhūvan viśeṣābhāvāt| Yatpunaḥ saṁsārāvasthāyāmapi kecana svātmajñānājjīvanmuktāḥ sarvajñātvasarvakartṛtvaśālinaḥ kecana svātmajñānayogyā ārurukṣavaśca dṛśyanta apare svātmajñānarahitāḥ santo dharmādharmanimittaśubhāśubhakarmanigaḍaprabandhabaddhāḥ saṁsāriṇa eveti kathametatsaṅgacchata itthamantaḥ sarvaṁ kṛtvā pārameśvaraḥ śaktipāto viśṛṅkhalaḥ — Iti pratipādayati

Ādarśe malarahite yadvadvadanaṁ vibhāti tadvadayam|
Śivaśaktipātavimale dhītattve bhāti bhārūpaḥ||9||

Darpaṇe mālinyarahite yathā nirviśeṣarūpādiguṇagaṇayuktaṁ mukhaṁ cakāsti — Na sa deśo'sti yaṁ vinivṛttamala ādarśo na svīkurute| Samale darpaṇe tu mukhamananyātiśayamapi dhyāmalatvādvaiparītyena prakāśate| Nāpi malinastadīyān guṇān svīkartumalam| Pratyuta tannyastamukhaḥ pumān mukhamanyathaiva dhyāmalatvādyupetamavalokya svātmano lajjāmāvahati vikṛtaṁ madvadanamiti| Tathaiva śivasya svātmano yāsāvanugrahākhyā śaktistasyāḥ pātaḥ svakiraṇavisphārastena sammārjite pratibhāmukura āṇavamāyīyakārmamalavāsanāprakṣayādviśadīkṛte keṣāñcidapaścimajanmanāṁ pramātṝṇāṁ bhāḥ prakāśo rūpaṁ yasya — Iti sa bhārūpaḥ svātmā yāvatsarvajñatvādiguṇagaṇayuktastāvānapyavabhāsate yena kecanaiva te svātmasvarūpaprathanātsaṁsāramadhyapatitā api muktakalpāḥ sātiśayāśca| Keṣāñcideva parameśvaratirodhānaśaktyā āṇavamāyīyakārmamalasamācchādite buddhitattve bhārūpo'pyātmā mālinyādbhāto'pyabhātakalpo yena te sāṁsārikāḥ paśavaḥ — Ityabhidhīyanta anye'pyubhayaśaktiyogātpramātāra ārurukṣavaḥ — Iti| Itthaṁ tīvramandamandatarādibhedena śaktipātavaicitryaṁ sarvatrāpyūhyam| Atra na māyāntaḥpātiniyatiśaktisamutthamaśvamedhādikaṁ japadhyānādi vānyadyatkiñcit karma mocanaheturātmanastasya hi māyātaḥ samuttīrṇatvādbhedapradhānaṁ vastu tatsādhanāya na prakalpate| Yadgītam

Nāhaṁ vedairna tapasā na dānena na cejyayā|

iti| Tasmādekamevātra parameśvarānugrahaḥ kāraṇamakṛtrimaṁ bhavyabuddhīnām| Yaduktam

Īśituḥ śaktipātāṁśe khyāpayitrī svatantratām|
Dhīḥ kāraṇakalāghrātā naiva kiñcidapekṣate||

iti| Paśupramātṝṇāṁ tu parameśvaratirodhānaśaktiḥ saṁsaraṇahetureva yenaite svasvarūpāprathanātśubhāśubhakarmaniratāḥ sukhaduḥkhādibhogabhājaḥ punaḥ punarasmin saṁsaranti| Tasmātpramātṝṇāṁ sādhāraṇe'pi svātmani prakāśāprakāśarūpe'nugrahatirodhānaśaktī dva eva te mokṣabandhapravibhāgahetū| Yaduktam

Badhnāti kācidapi śaktiranantaśakteḥ kṣetrajñamapratihatā bhavapāśajālaiḥ|
Jñānāsinā ca vinikṛtya guṇān aśeṣān anyā karotyabhimukhaṁ puruṣaṁ vimuktau||

Evamidaṁ sarvamāgamānubhavayuktiyuktaṁ pratipādya yat prāk śaktyādyaṇḍacatuṣṭayaṁ pratipāditaṁ tadantarālavarti samutpattikrameṇa ṣaṭtriṁśattattvātmakaṁ jagat yallagnaṁ bhāti tat prathamataḥ kāraṇakāraṇaṁ paramaśivasvarūpaṁ kārikādvayenāha

Bhārūpaṁ paripūrṇaṁ svātmani viśrāntito mahānandam|
Icchāsaṁvitkaraṇairnirbharitamanantaśaktiparipūrṇam||10||

Sarvavikalpavihīnaṁ śuddhaṁ śāntaṁ layodayavihīnam|
Yat paratattvaṁ tasmin vibhāti ṣaṭtriṁśadātma jagat||11||

Yadevaṁvidhaṁ paraṁ pūrṇaṁ śivatattvaṁ tatra śivādidharāparyantaṁ vakṣyamāṇaṁ viśvaṁ viśrāntaṁ sat prakāśate tadabhinnameva cakāsadyuktyopapadyate - Iti yāvat| Nanu tanyate sarvaṁ tanvādi yatra tat tattvaṁ tananādvā tad āpralayaṁ tasya bhāvaḥ - Iti vā tattvamityevamapi tattvavyapadeśo'yaṁ jāḍyāpādakaḥ kathaṁ cidrūpe bhagavati paramaśive syāt - Ucyate| Upadeśyajanāpekṣayā yāvatā śabdena pratipādyate tāvatā tatra tattvavyapadeśo na vastutaḥ| Kīdṛśaṁ tat paraṁ tattvaṁ bhāḥ prakāśo rūpaṁ svabhāvo yasya mahāprakāśavapuḥ - Ityarthaḥ| Tathā paripūrṇaṁ nirākāṅkṣam| Nirākāṅkṣamapi sphaṭikamaṇidarpaṇādi jaḍaṁ vastu bhavati - Ityāha svātmani viśrāntito mahānandamiti| Svasmin svabhāve'khaṇḍāhantācamatkārarase viśramānmahān ānandaḥ parā nirvṛtiryasya - Iti| Tadevaṁ paramāhlādakasphurattāsāratvātprakāśyasphaṭikāderjaḍādvailakṣaṇyamuktaṁ bhavati| Ata evāha icchāsaṁvitkaraṇairnirbharitamiti| Icchājñānakriyāśaktisvabhāvameva na punaḥ śāntabrahmavādināmiva śaktivirahitaṁ jaḍakalpam| Anyaccānantaśaktiparipūrṇamiti| Anantā niḥsaṅkhyā ghaṭapaṭādyā nāmarūpātmikāḥ śaktaya icchājñānakriyāśaktīnāṁ pallavabhūtā brāhmyādyāḥ śaktayaḥ śabdarāśisamutthāstābhiḥ paritaḥ samantātpūrṇaṁ vyāptaṁ tata evollasantyastatraiva śāmyanti - Iti| Evaṁ parāvāgrūpaṁ bhagavati svātantryamuktaṁ syāt| Nanu vāgrūpaṁ cetparaṁ tattvaṁ tarhi kālpanikaṁ śabdasambhinnatvāt kathaṁ śuddhaprakāśavapuṣi kalpanāyogaḥ - Ityāśayenāha sarvavikalpavihīnamiti| Parapramātari yo'yaṁ parāhantācamatkāraḥ sa vāgrūpo'pi nirvikalpaḥ| Vikalpo hyanyāpohalakṣaṇo dvayaṁ ghaṭāghaṭarūpamākṣipan aghaṭādvyavacchinnaṁ ghaṭaṁ niścinoti| Prakāśasya punaḥ parāhantācamatkārasārasyāpi nāprakāśarūpaḥ prakāśādanyaḥ pratipakṣatayā vidyate yadvyavacchedāttasya vikalparūpatā syāt| Vyavacchedyo hyartho'prakāśātmā prakāśavapuṣi prakāśate cettarhi

Tatsaṁvedanarūpeṇa tādātmyapratipattitaḥ|

Ityādinyāyena yo'pyarthaḥ prakāśasvabhāvatāṁ yātaḥ san sa kathaṁ svātmanastasyaiva vyavacchedakaḥ syādyena vikalparūpatāṁ tatra samāvahet| Atha pratipakṣatayā na prakāśate - Iti kathamihāprakāśamānaḥ padārthaḥ pratipakṣarūpo'stīti paricchettumapi śakyeteti yatkiñcidetatsyāt| Yataḥ sarvairvyavacchedātmakairvikalpairvihīnamaparicchinnasvabhāvaṁ paraṁ tattvam| Ata evāha śuddhamiti vimalaṁ vikalpamayyāśuddhimaṣyābhāvāt| Tathā śāntamiti| Grāhyagrāhakasamutthakṣobhābhāvātśaktisāmarasyena svasvarūpasthaṁ na punaraśmaśakalakalpam| Anyacca layodayavihīnamiti|

Sakṛdvibhāto'yamātmā|

iti kṛtvā sanātana eva| Ato bhūtabhaviṣyadvartamānavapuḥ kālaḥ tatra na kramate yataḥ kālasya tata eva samullāsaḥ - Iti samutpattivināśabahiṣkṛte paratattve'bhyupagate viśvasya viśvatvamupapannam - Iti pratipāditaṁ syāt||11||

 Nanvevaṁvidhe paratattve jagadbhāti - Iti yat pratipāditaṁ tat kathametatsyādyāvatā paratattvāpekṣayā na kiñcidbhedena bhātuṁ pragalbheta tato bhinnaṁ cejjagadbhāsate tadādvayavādakhaṇḍanā abhinnaṁ cejjagatprakāśata iti kathaṁ vācoyuktiḥ — Iti dṛṣṭāntadvāreṇa tadbhedābhedarūpaṁ tattvamupadarśayanetatsamarthanāyāha

Darpaṇabimbe yadvannagaragrāmādi citramavibhāgi|
Bhāti vibhāgenaiva ca parasparaṁ darpaṇādapi ca||12||

Vimalatamaparamabhairavabodhāttadvadvibhāgaśūnyamapi|
Anyonyaṁ ca tato'pi ca vibhaktamābhāti jagadetat||13||

Yathā nirmale mukurāntarāle nagaragrāmapuraprākārāṭṭasthalanadanadījvalanavṛkṣaparvatapaśupakṣistrīpuruṣādikaṁ sarvaṁ pratibimbatayā citraṁ svālakṣaṇyena nānārūpaṁ bhāsata avibhāgi darpaṇādavibhaktaṁ sadbhāti tadabhedenaivāntar ākāraṁ samarpayati tatrābhedena bhāsamānamapi bhāti vibhāgenaiva ca parasparamityanyonyasvālakṣaṇyena ghaṭātpaṭo bhinnaḥ paṭādghaṭaḥ — Iti vibhaktatayā sphurati| Tadantargatā hi bhāvā eva pṛthaktvena parāmṛśyante na punastaṁ darpaṇaṁ tyaktvā pṛthakkiñcidupalabhyate kintu darpaṇasāmarasyena sthitamapi sarvato bhinnaṁ jagatpratīyate| Evamapi ghaṭādipratibimbena darpaṇastarhyantarhitaḥ syāt — Ityetanna — Ityāha darpaṇādapi ceti| Na kevalaṁ svayaṁ bhāvā darpaṇāntargatā api bhinnāḥ prakāśante yāvaddarpaṇādapi vyatiricyante yato darpaṇastattatpratibimbamayo'pi tebhyaḥ pratibimbebhyaḥ samuttīrṇasvarūpatayā cakāsti na punastanmayaḥ sampadyate yena ca na darpaṇa iti pratītiḥ syāt| Sarvasya punastattatpratibimbagrahaṇe'pi darpaṇo'yamityabādhitā pratipattiḥ| Nāpi ghaṭādiḥ darpaṇaṁ viśinaṣṭi yenāyaṁ ghaṭadarpaṇo'yaṁ paṭadarpaṇa iti svasvarūpatāhāniratra jāyate| Deśakṛtaḥ kālakṛto vā bhedo na tatra svabhāvavipralopāya bhavati| Tasmāttattatpratibimbasahiṣṇuḥ san svātmani darpaṇo darpaṇa eva — Iti na kācitpratibimbavādakṣatiḥ| Athocyate bhrāntireṣā — Yaduta darpaṇe hastī — Iti parāmṛśyate na tu punardarpaṇe sa kaścidvidyate tathātvenārthakriyāvirahādbhrāntyaivaiṣa niścayaḥ — Iti| Etāvatā pratibimbavādena dṛṣṭāntastāvatsiddhaḥ| Bhrāntestu svarūpaṁ samanantaraṁ nirūpyate| Tadvattathaiva darpaṇanagarādipratibimbadṛṣṭāntena vimalatamaparamabhairavabodhādatiśayena vigalitakālikātpūrṇānandodriktātprakāśājjagadviśvaṁ vibhāgaśūnyamapi darpaṇapratibimbavattataḥ prakāśādavibhaktamapi parasparaṁ ca vibhaktatvena grāhyagrāhakāpekṣayā nānārūpaṁ prathate tato'pi ceti bodhādapyunmagnamivābhāti yato bodhastadrūpatayāpi prathamānastataḥ samuttīrṇaḥ prathate yathā pratibimbebhyo darpaṇe| Evamapi viśvabhāvapratibimbasahiṣṇuḥ prakāśo viśvabhāvebhyaḥ samuttīrṇaḥ sarvasyānubhavitṛtayā svasvarūpeṇa prathate| Bhāvagato'pi deśakālākārabhedaḥ kevalamatra prakāśate darpaṇavanna punaḥ svaṁ rūpaṁ sambhinatti| Ata evaikānekasvarūpo'pi bodha eka eva bodhābhyupagatacitrajñānavat| Kintu darpaṇaprakāśātsacamatkārasya citprakāśasyeyān viśeṣaḥ — Yaddarpaṇe svacchatāmātrasanāthe bhinnaṁ bāhyameva nagarādi pratibimbatvenābhimataṁ bhāti na tu svanirmitamato darpaṇe'yaṁ hastīti yo niścayaḥ sa bhrāntaḥ syātprakāśaḥ punaḥ svacamatkārasāraḥ svecchayā svātmabhittāvabhedena parāmṛśan svasaṁvidupādānameva viśvamābhāsayati| Viśvasyābhāsanameva nirmātṛtvaṁ bhagavataḥ — Iti parāmarśa eva prakāśasya jaḍāddarpaṇaprakāśādervailakṣaṇyāpādakaṁ mukhyaṁ rūpam — Iti| Etadeva granthakṛtā vivṛtivimarśinyāmuktam

Antarvibhāti sakalaṁ jagadātmanīha yadvadvicitraracanā makurāntarāle|
Bodhaḥ punarnijavimarśanasārayuktyā viśvaṁ parāmṛśati no makurastathā tu||

iti| Itthaṁ parameśvarāpekṣayā svāṅganirmite bhāvarāśau na kācid bhedabhrāntirmāyāpramātrapekṣayā tu yo'yaṁ bhedāvabhāsa eṣā pūrṇatvākhyātirūpā bhrāntiḥ — Pūrṇasyādvayātmano rūpasyākhyānamaprathā pūrṇaṁ na bhāsate kintvapūrṇaṁ dvayarūpaṁ bhāsate bheda eva pratīyate — Iti yāvat| Tasmānniravadyo'yaṁ pratibimbavādaḥ||13||

Itthaṁ paratattvasvarūpanirūpaṇapūrvaṁ prakāśābhedena jagataḥ ṣaṭtriṁśattattvātmakasya sthitiṁ vidhāya punarapyetasya samutpattikrameṇa pratitattvaṁ svarūpaṁ kārikābhiḥ pratipādayati

Śivaśaktisadāśivatāmīśvaravidyāmayīṁ ca tattvadaśām|
Śaktīnāṁ pañcānāṁ vibhaktabhāvena bhāsayati||14||

Yo'yaṁ paramaśivaḥ paratattvanirūpaṇayā samanantarapratipāditasvarūpaḥ svasvarūparūpā yāḥ śaktayaścinnirvṛtīcchājñānakriyākhyāḥ pañca anantaśaktivrātahetubhūtāstāsāmeva pañcānāṁ śaktīnāṁ bhinnatvenātadvyāvṛttyemāṁ tattvadaśāṁ pañcasaṅkhyāvacchinnāmeva bhāsayati svālakṣaṇyena prakaṭayati — Ityarthaḥ| Kīdṛśīṁ tām — Ityāha śiva ityādi| Śivaśca śaktiśca sadāśivaśca teṣāṁ bhāvo yasyāḥ sā tathoktā tāṁ tatheśvaravidye prakṛtiryasyāṁ sā tathā — Iti| Atra pratitattvaṁ svarūpaṁ pradarśyate| Tathā hi — Sarvapramātṝṇāmantaḥ pūrṇāhantācamatkāramayaṁ sarvatattvottīrṇaṁ mahāprakāśavapuryaccaitanyametadeva śivatattvam| Atra tattvanirūpaṇamupadeśyajanāpekṣayā — Iti| Tasyaiva bhagavataścidrūpasyānandarūpā viśvaṁ bhavāmīti parāmṛśato viśvabhāvasvabhāvamayī saṁvideva kiñciducchūnatārūpā sarvabhāvānāṁ bījabhūmiriyaṁ śaktyavasthā| Eṣaiva viśvagatasṛṣṭisaṁhāropacārātkṛśapūrṇobhayarūpāpyekaiva sarvarahasyanayeṣu gīyate| Punarapyatraiva viśvasamutpattibījabhūmau mahāśūnyātiśūnyākhyāyāṁ maheśasyāhamidamityabhedena pūrṇāhantāmayo yaścamatkāro jñānaprādhānyātkriyābhāgasyāhantāviśrānteḥ seyaṁ sadāśivadaśā| Atra mantramaheśvarāḥ pramātārastiṣṭhanti| Tathātraivāhamidamityabhedenāhantedantayoḥ samadhṛtatulāpuṭanyāyena yaḥ svātmacamatkāraḥ saiṣā tasyeśvarāvasthā| Atrāpi mantreśvarāḥ pramātāraḥ| Atrāpīdantāprādhānyenāhantāguṇīkāreṇa yo'hamahamidamidamityevaṁrūpaścamatkāraḥ sadyojātabālasyeva śiro'ṅgulīnirdeśya etadeva bodhasāratvādbhagavataḥ śuddhavidyātattvam| Atra vidyeśvaraiḥ saha saptakoṭyastu mantrāṇāṁ vācakatayānugrahasvabhāvātpaśūnuddhartuṁ vācyān mantramaheśvaramantreśvarān prati avatiṣṭhante| Atra vidyātattve vidyeśvarapramātṝṇāṁ bodharūpatvāviśeṣe'pi yā bhedaprathā sā māyāśaktikṛtaiva — Ityāgameṣu gīyate

iti| Yena tatrasthā mantrā mahāmāyānupraveśādaṇavaḥ — Ityucyante| Māyātattvopari śuddhavidyādhaśca vijñānākalāḥ pramātāra āṇavamalabhājanam| Evamekamevedaṁ śivasvarūpaṁ turyātītamapi turyarūpatayā tattvapañcakatayā gīyate| Tasmādeka evaiṣa svatantraḥ kartā prakāśate yasyāhamidamiti sadāśiveśvarabhūmau yaḥ prakāśa etadeva śuddhavedanarūpaṁ karaṇaṁ vakṣyamāṇo māyātattvādidharāntastattvasargaśca kāryam — Ityeva kartṛkaraṇakriyārūpa eka eva svātmamaheśvarākhyaḥ paramapramātā vijṛmbhate||14||

Māyātattvasvarūpamāha

Paramaṁ yat svātantryaṁ durghaṭasampādanaṁ maheśasya|
Devī māyāśaktiḥ svātmāvaraṇaṁ śivasyaitat||15||

Paramamananyāpekṣaṁ yat parameśituḥ svātantryaṁ viśvanirmātṛtvaṁ saiveyaṁ māyākhyā śaktistasya śaktimataḥ| Mīyate — Paricchidyate dharāntaḥ pramātṛprameyaprapañco yayā sā māyā viśvamohakatayā vā māyā| Eṣā devasya krīḍāśīlasya sambandhinī — Iti kṛtvā devī na punarbrahmavādināmiva vyatiriktā kācinmāyopapadyate — Iti| Kīdṛśaṁ tat svātantryaṁ durghaṭasampādanamiti| Duḥkhena ghaṭayituṁ śakyam — Iti durghaṭasya kāryasya pramātṛprameyarūpasya sampādanaṁ prāptiprāpakam| Eṣaiva māyā svecchayā paśubhāvamāpannasya śivasya svātmāvaraṇaṁ svarūpagopanākhyamāṇavādimalatritayam||15||
